Ripped City Organizing Dispensary Toy Drive Across Oregon

For many people, the holidays don’t officially kick off until Thanksgiving (AKA “Native Peoples Regret Not Building a Wall Day”), and for others it’s the following day, Black Friday.

Many of us will be taking advantage of deep discounts at local dispensaries for Black Friday—especially with some stores knocking 50 percent off selected items.

So for this Black Friday edition of Canna Charities, we present a long list of places where you can score yourself whatever form of jazz tobacco you favor this Friday, while also improving the lives of less fortunate children—because that is a worthy goal, and you aren’t a monster.

It’s such a worthy goal, consider giving this list to friends, and suggest that instead of buying things for each other, you pool your funds and spend that gift money toward this project. Seriously, do you really need more stuff?

The program is Ripped City’s “Give Back Toy Drive,” and they’ve made it easy for people to participate by placing collection boxes at dozens of dispensaries around the state. Bring in a new, unwrapped toy and drop it off at the designated donation box, then buy yourself some cannabis because you just did a good thing and deserve a treat.

This is the second year for this toy drive, and last year Ripped City recruited 20 dispensaries as collection points, and received $15,000 worth of toys, all of which were distributed by the Boys and Girls Aid.

This year, there are dozens of dispensaries already signed on, with a goal of collecting $45,000 worth of toys. (If you work for or own a dispensary and would like to participate, they are actively recruiting, and can be reached here.

You have until December 20 to get your toy(s) to a participating dispensary or the NW Cannabis Club. The following are current as of this writing, but check in with the website for the most up to date list.
